whats the RIGHT way to install v5 drivers?

I had a vooodoo3, uninstalled everything, put in v5, let it detect drivers from the CD, then, i dled from 3dfx website, installed tools from there. IN 3dmark i only got 36xx 3d marks, 800x600 16 bit, w/ my voodoo3 i was pulling 3155. Please tell me the right way to install these drivers....

I'd like to know what your CPU is but that seems like the trend for V3 to V5 switches. I'm only getting about 2700 with my V5 on a P3 450@522 ad I was gettin 2200 with my V3. I was really disapointed nad ws thinking about taking back but then I tried Counterstrike with fsaa4X and WHAAAMOOOOO!!!! Huge diff, went from 20fps to 45 easy with 4X on.

OpenGL but still damn nice. Max res and there's still a noticiable difference in quality and speed.
