2ghz?

We all know (and hate) how computer technology advances - It seems only a short while ago that i was overawed by a 100mhz Pentium.
So my question is this - following the current trend in processor advances, how long will it be before 2ghz processors are available to the consumer?

The way i see it, not long. My estimate is July next year. Better start saving to upgrade my celery

Next December. The computer processor speed is supposed to double every 18 months and so far has been pretty close to that.

IBM has just finished testing a 4.5GHz (not super cooled) CPU so maybe we'll be lucky and see it next year.

Yah - i heard that IBM made a 1ghz machine in 1979, supercooled liquid Nitrogen, size of a grapefruit
