    Alpha help please

    Can someone please give me good directions on setting up a Alpha heat sink for a socket 7. It comes with several things and no manual. I just dont want to screw it up!

    Well, it is a PFH 6030 and I was wondering if I should have it blow at the CPU or away? Plus it comes with some spacers..What are they for? BTW Lord G, I love your site...I go to it often for tips,,,keep it up!

    Those spacers are supposed to hold the shroud a little bit off the heatsink. And the fan should be sucking air away from the heatsink.

    Either sucking/blowing is fun, but people have better result blowing on the heatsink.

    My temps are a bit lower with it blowing on to my K6-3, but some guys seem to get better results the other way about. Ensure you use some Thermal paste on there as it can make a huge difference to the performance of the heatsink
