1 GHz

My next project (end of summer, beginning of fall) will be to go for the 1 GHz or higher mark. Any recommendations on intel P3 coppermines that will do this?

Coppermine 750 will be about the easiest. At a 134mhz fsb it is over 1Ghz! I don't know how much heat these will generate at that speed, but it is a sound theory.

I hope the prices drop on those within the next few months... I guess a Duron or a thunderbird might be interesting, though the only AMD I've ever owned is a K6 300.

Celermine (I hate that name) 633 hits a gig a little unstable air cooled (lotsa room for improvement )

Yeah, but the celermines haven't been benching very well in comparison to similarly clocked P3's, or so I've heard... I'm in it for the GHz, and the performance.

theres a big latency differnce on the l2 cache, but you can soft alter this on celerons and p2's, so it might (hope) be possible on celery2's
