how to read the #s on this P2 300??? AND O/Cing??

ok its an oldy im playing around with it will run fine at 75fsb but cant getinto bios at 83fsb....hooking up a pelt rig now.could it be temp or voltage? and what should the stock voltage be?

The P2-300's did not overclock very well. DO NOT ever try to run at 83 MHz FSB or you risk corrupting your hard drive files and reformatting and reloading your operating system.

Your processor was made in 1998 (the first number in the first line is the year) and they were made the 5th week (the 05 right after the year digit).

Personally, I would not waste my time mounting a peltier to the P2-300. You could get a new processor (such as a Celeron 500 and an adapter card) and get alot more performance.

well on my other machine i got a 500e@750 i just got an abit be62 and am just playing around....i saw at overclockers data base alot of these things hit 400+

Anything is worth a shot in my book. I may even pull my old 486 out of the closest and see if I can't wring a WU a week out of her. It'll make her feel useful again

338 is all it will do with pelt on project failed!!!!

putting the case back on the P2....will not even get into bios at higher than 75fsb tried uping the voltage too

umm that CPU could be unlocked. try changing the mulitplier. I had a P2-266 unlocked ran 377 all day long. 400 was a no go.
