Asus K7M and a good fan

Just wondering if getting an Asus K7M to overclock my Athlon 500. Also can you guys tell me what good fan/heatsink combo is good and that does not take an extra DIMM slot? Do I still need an overclocking (golden finger) device for my Athlon still? Thanks

From what i hear that is a good board for OCin. As far as fans, alphas and such are always good, but i've got an arctic circle. It cools great and doesn't take up any dimm slots...www.montac.com. Yes, you probably will need a goldfinger device. I would just go with the cheapest one out there I have a k7oc gfd from www.k7oc.com. My athy 500 is at 750. Good luck.

The K7M will let you overclock to about +8-13% with no overclocking card. The Alpha P7125, GlobalWin FLK-32, and GlobalWin VOS-32(with slight modification) will fit that board. (there are others, but those are the good ones). The K7M WAS the best overclocking motherboard. Now the K7V and MSI K7Pro are. They are based on the Via kx133 chipset.
