Mem speed vs CPU speed???

on 500e

@700 mem speed is 404
@750 mem speed is 356

seems things work quicker @700 could this be??

what do you guys think?

If the CPU speed diference was about 33Mhz or below, memory speed will make a big difference...In your case, the 750Mhz will still be marginally faster than 700 although due to the lower mem speed, you won't get the full 50 Mhz speed benefit.

A lowering of the mem speed at 750 is quite odd since the L2 cache and memory bus should be running faster...My guess is that at higher Mhz the L2 cache latency is automatically increased so as to maintain the stability of the CPU...

The higher end Cumine chips may have higher L2 latencies compared to the slower ones...Some testing should be done to confirm this...

@700 i tried all diff mem settings my fastest is 2-2-3 at 2-2-2 it wont boot(very Stable not one crash yet)

@750 not so stable at 2-2-3 so i run it at 3-3-3 this is why im losing the mem speed...

so knowing this what setting would be best?

Depends entirely on what you want your machine to be fastest at...
For things like SETI, Graphical Apps the faster memory will help.
For general usage the faster CPU will help - not 100% sure about gaming, because I think which game you play matters quite a bit and which VGA card you use is also more impoerant in my opinion.

You will definitely lose memory speed if you lower the memory timings. I guess the L2 cache wasn't an issue after all...But generally, running at 750 rather than 700 will still improve your system performance...The increase will not be the whole 50 Mhz difference but only about 15 Mhz...

If the Mhz difference was 33Mhz or below rather than 50, then the slower memory will be a big issue. The 50 Mhz increase will offset the slower memory speed and give you a net increase (about 15 Mhz..)

Try running your memory at 3,2,2 That was the best balance for me

i did try that but if i change the last 3 to a 2 it wont boot...so that is y i use 2-2-3...well ill play around some more..
