Diogenes-tell me about your dual celeron system...

I saw that you have a dual celeron system running two 366's. I have a BP6 ordered and I already have a cel466@581. I plan on getting another and attempting to run both at 83+mhz fsb.
What kind of work do you do on your computer? Seti? Games? Everything that I have read has said that most games don't support SMP(well, except quakeIII) so do you really see a difference with the duals?
What OS are you running? win2k? Linux?
any helpful hints would be appreciated...thanks

    thank you very much duckman..
now may I ask you a question? you are saying that even without running a SMP enabled app you will still see an increase in system performance?
what if I am playing Q2, no other apps are running in the background, what kind of percentage increase would I see over an identical system running with one processor?

I think that it would be worth it so I could run SETI while playing games online etc...

It's hard to give you any exact numbers, but yes, I think it would be possible to run both Q2 and SETI, and still have smooth graphix(<30FPS). Running Q2 only will probably gain you 10-20% depending on your resolution and vid-card. Running both will probably give you 20-40% increase compared to a single CPU setup, maybe even more.

With any SMP-capable apps the increase will be up to 80%, but never 100% due to the fact that the CPUs must communicate, that they are sharing the same bus, same memorybandwidth etc.
