I'am a dutch student at de university of technologie in eindhoven ( netherlands)
Last week i cooled my amd k6-2 with liquide nitrogen of ( - 197 degc or -332.6 deg f.)
and i tried to overclock it to its max. Are you intrested in pictures of results feel free to mail me
wow -197o C. is impressive... I noticed you said that you "tried" to o/c your cpu to its max. Unfortunatly, k6's usually dont o/c that well (actually they o/c worth ****). I know you prolly dont have one and are not made of money but I would be really really curious to know how your set up would work on something like say.. a ppga celery. 366 and 400 come to mind but I think pretty much any celeron will o/c at -197o c. beyond 600MHz would be very realistic.
If I am not mistaken, -197c refers to the temperature of the Liq Nitro not the CPU, right? I feels like an idiot asking this if that's really the CPU temp.. -197c??? holy sh?@#$t! If not, I'll be interested to know what the after-cooling CPU temp is..
Does ANYTHING work under this temp? It's like I can preserve my body for 2e10 years under this temp... Just wondering..
Call me skeptical, but I have a hard time believing that you could cool a cpu w/Liq N2. It would be so cold that if you tapped it it would break. I would guess that just bringing back up to room temperature would cause cracks and fissures in it. If you could bring a cpu to -300F and leave it at room temp, it's approx the same as putting it into a 375F oven (figuring room temp at about 75F). It can't be good for it (this from a person who used to do a show with Liq. N2)...
Granted it could be possible, but I am very skeptical to say the least...
I call it "No-Pants Wonderday," but it turns out the police just call it "Thursday." Go figure.
