How do you measure cpu temp most accurately?

Sandra Sisoft report CPU temp PIII 550 @ 660 like 17C when outside temp is cold with Vantec cooler which makes no sense at all. Do I need to use the thermo sensor that came with ABIT mobo to measure it most accurately? What part of h/s or cpu do you attach it?

for the best, you need the sensor touvhing the cpu core.. just touching the heatsink will not do..
