In the tube, does thermal compound (Artic Silver 5) get old?? TIA

AS2 and possibly 3 was supposed to have that problem and the newer stuff was supposed to fix that. Unless you are removing the heatsink for some reason you should not have to re-apply it. If you do make sure you clean the heatsink and CPU first.

Thx Todd. My CPU is running HOT, 55 C at startup. Im getting a new hsf and have some atrtic silver left from awhile back. Was just wondering if I need to get a new tube.

Back when I got AS2, it came with some info, suggesting it be kept in the fridge in a horizontal position.

AS5 is the best. That stuff was between 3 and 5 I think. I usually go here for AS5 (and case mod stuff) for $5.99:
