I am unclear on the physical setup here. You have a phone line which is an extension circuit of the main house? but the electrical is a different connection (i.e. not a sub-board)
It would seem...

Soundblaster Live! series supports digital-out as in AC3/Dolby Digital pass-thru. But you need an AC3/DD decoder.
In my opinion both Santa Cruz and SBLive card series are utter crap and are not...
Then I say get a mini system. Nothing earth shaking.
Quadrophonic was a buzz term for 4 channel amps back in the days of the pot smoking hippy.
It is a simple money making scheme from M$. It costs heaps to certify drivers for no apparent gain so gee, companies don't bother.
Make waves, kick up a fuss, you are entiled to. It is a 'cop-out'...
Are you outputing to TV to watch DVDs/DivX?
If so get a mini-system. Also depends if you have digital out etc?
Excellent. Doubly so since SB drivers now have a price tag.
I'm impressed with the Router

Sounds like you want 4.1 sound via the SPDIF. It won't happen.
No soundcards have a complete digital solution for 2/4.1/5.1 output.
EAX is crap anyway. It doesn't work properly and isn't...

Also try turning PnP aware OS off in the BIOS and check IRQs after the POST screen.
It would also help...

Choose any-card. It really doesn't matter that much. You can achieve CD quality 44.1KHz 16bit recording with any el-cheapo soundcard nowadays.
Creative Labs are heartless crooks who provide no...

I'm not the fan of SB but Santacruz offers nothing better. Same digital-out solutions etc just maybe easier drivers.
nForce DD encoder is what I'm hanging out for (for those of us who have DD/DTS...

I went to the creative site to check for driver/liveware updates
I ended up at a notice saying you must buy the CD containing these drivers
Unless I've got the entire picture wrong - wankers!

No soundcard has a DTS or DD encoder.
(The upcoming nForce has a DD encoder)
You can pass-thru a DD signal to an external decoder or use your analog 5.1 speaker out of your live 5.1

You definitly need that centre speaker. Most voice on DVDs comes from the centre.
The AiW is a good card.

Maybe its a cable from your sound-card to amplifier
November 15th, 2001, 02:06 AM
You are able to have PC->5 speaker output + PC->TV output
The speaker output will be dual PCM via a 1/4" stereo jack to 2xRCA (or minidin)
Enjoy your new setup ...

Things have changed now....
Before it was not happening to get SPDIF pass-thru for DVDs in W2K.... updates have obviously fixed this
Digital pass-thru only works for DVDs. Games with 4.1/5.1...

Digital out is achieved via dual PCM streams from a stereo 1.4" jack to 2 RCA
The Front digital PCM can be aquired by a MONO 1/4" -> RCA lead (or using 1 of a stereo lead)
And no...you cannot...
