Try booting in safe mode and disable the SB16 emulation if its installed. It hogs an IRQ.

Also try turning PnP aware OS off in the BIOS and check IRQs after the POST screen.

The Front digital PCM can be aquired by a MONO 1/4" -> RCA lead (or using 1 of a stereo lead)

but not soldering anything on it just put your digital cable on AUD EXT connector: pin 15 is SPDIF in#1 and 16 it's GND.be carefull to plug on the good...
