I also have a PCI512 and had similar problems with it, however mine affected the Epson 900 print speed.
Microsoft FAQ's state that "Some sound cards can show no conflicts in the device manager...

Well I took your suggestion Hoggie and tried the USB port again....and IT WORKED!
In fact. your right, it works better than the good LPT1 port!
Reinstalled the Creative PCI512 and IT WORKS,...
