my MX300 is a bit picky, it worked PERFECTLY when I first bought it and plugged it in, but it then decided it didn't like the slot it was in, or something. It was sensational up until I tried...

www.opensound.com has beta drivers for the MX300... haven't had time to try them out though.
From the reviews I have seen, the MX300 is the "best" card for gamers. But it only just squeezed in front of the SB Live, both cards are fantastic so it doesn't REALLY matter which one you get.
I am interested to hear from people who use the MX300 with an MVP3-based motherboard. My AOpen AX59Pro and MX300 don't seem to get on well, sometimes the sound card works and other times it doesn't. ...
They're both great cards. Go and read a proper review page if you want to split hairs.
Any sound card worth buying these days will be full duplex. Heck I have an old **** ISA sound card in my other computer that's full duplex and it's 2-3 years old ...
my speakers make a slight buzzing noise sometimes. it happens even if they are unplugged from the computer so it isn't the sound card - try unplugging them and if they keep buzzing it's because the...

The TNT card won't be a problem, but performance won't be pants-****tingly awesome, only very nice http://www.hardwarecentral.com/discussion/smile.gif
Meyer: so hate me.
It so happened that I could afford AU$100 for an MX300, but a decent stereo is 5 times as expensive here. Thus my crappy plasticky speakers are staying right where they are...
It wouldn't be a BIOS problem.
Are they big files? or are you loading them off a CD?
Make sure you've installed bus-mastering. The disk access can momentarily take up all 100% of the cpu...
Xitel? wtf? I've never heard of them! Get the Diamond http://www.hardwarecentral.com/discussion/smile.gif
he's a moron. My K6-2 350 works great with the MX300. I just need better speakers that's all http://www.hardwarecentral.com/discussion/smile.gif

The Live and MX300 are both great, according to all the reviews. Make sure you get the SB Live Value Edition though, the full pack is for professional musos and so on.
I've got an MX300 and I'm...

Update: My gut feeling seems to be right. I flashed back to the 2.0 BIOS and everything is super. It has worked the last few times I have booted it without me fiddling with it and getting...

NUH animal... do I sound like a lamer? The problem is NOT that obvious. Explain to me how the output settings cause my sound card to sometimes work and sometimes not work ie I can boot it, it won't...

The latest winamp (2.10) sucks. I'm back to using 2.09 now.
the memsnoop readings I refer to are free memory. Winamp claims it is out of memory but that is clearly not the case.
The 2.1 BIOS...

MX300 was working perfectly until.....
winamp gave me an error that there was not enough memory blah blah some bull**** statement that was obviously not true upon glancing at memsnoop.

Bass is very non-directional. For instance one of my friends has a very expensive home theatre setup with a subwoofer that's disguised as a waist-high cupboard. Even if you're sitting right next to...

how is it that you manage to include home stereo system and cheap in the same sentence? ROFL. <sarcasm>Oh yeah it's cheap because I've just got one lying around, you know I NEVER thought about...

Actually that page only gives a link to opensound.com which tells you that the drivers are still in development.
Ahh right. I just use compat mode now anyway, I don't play Q2 enough to care about best performance (probably only a 0.5fps difference anyhow).
Just a pity that there are no linux drivers for the...
K6-2 350 + MX300. Beautiful crisp sound (especially considering the cheapo speakers i have... would have sworn i'd need new speakers to properly appreciate it!). No clicking, no skips. None of that...
