Vortex 2 based cards are more CPU intensive and are usually more buggy with games. Quake 3 will take a 30 percent FPS drop from the A3D api.
A3D sounds better than the SBlive's EA but EA is less...

Diamond cant write drivers, hence they never update them. They suck and need to be fired.
I always use the refference drivers ie Aureal A3D and they are much better and are updated more often than...

If you use games a lot and dont do any music recording or mixing get a MX300.
If you are into the music scene then get a Live. This does not include mp3's though as they are both good for those....

True, i had the CL PCI 64 soundcard and i upgraded it to the MX300 soundcard. I didn't notice much difference except all the distortion and popping. Some times i wonder whether these PC standards...

I gotta say the MX 300 was the worst 140 bucks i ever spent. When i installed it the computer would hang when i played music CD's, in most games eg NFS3 and 4, AVP and in some Quake 2 Multiplayer...

I would just like to know what the best drivers for the Mx300 are eg the Vortex 2 reference drivers or the Diamond ones. I dont care about the stupid Diamond control panel it sucks. Any help...
