Sharing an IRQ with the IRQ holder for PCI steering normally doesn't cause problems.
What IRQs do you sound- and videocard use?
It never rains but it pours...

Yo might want to give us more information about the system.
What does "nothing happens" mean?
What OS do you use?
Is the system booting properly?

If you're using Win98, it looks like you made one false click.
You say Browse for driver and point to the folder where you extracted the driver files to. Then, IMPORTANT, Windows will show a dialog...

You said you moved the card to another slot, so did you check the device manager for resource conflicts before and after?
I like beers. Cheers!

Did you follow the procedure I described step by step?

Do you also use a PCI gfx-card?
It's better to burn out than fade away
There can be only one!

Sounds like your installation procedure is wrong. My suggestion:
-Extract the driver files to a new directory of your choice, not Windows!
-Delete the sound device in the device manager and reboot...

Yes, I agree with Salmoneus,
get PCI sound; there are many affordable cards, but I can't tell you which one to buy.

I've done some research. Yamaha is selling this QS300A brand. They haven't got drivers because it's an XWave chip from LabWay.
Labway's drivers for the different XWave chips are found here...

On board sound is ISA and costs performance. Most PCI sound cards offer some hardware acceleration for DirectSound and D3DSound. Also using the PCI bus spares the CPU from having to handle all the...

Could be a game/hardware incompatibility (->patch?) or a game konfiguration issue. I had lots of D3D message boxes (Create "whatever" failed...) in Unreal->back to desktop. I had to change a...

Welcome to HWC!
A few questions:
Does it also happen in other games?
Did you just try to load the new drivers or did you actually successfully install them?
Do you already have DirextX 7.0a?

I'd like to add this, because it seems I didn't read your last statement thoroughly:
The "driver not found" message is shown when you point to the wrong directory on the CD. It has to...

Yor best bet would be to take a look at the card and identify the sound processing chip (usually the biggest one). Ther should be a name and a number on it.
Then visit WinDrivers, they have drivers...
