For gaming, I would prefer a sorround speaker since you have bought the SBLive value which can support 4 speakers. The low end is currently the FPS 4 point sorround while the better one is FPS 2000....

Creative has EAX while Santa Cruz has the A3D sound effects but it's comparable to EAX. I prefer santa Cruz cause the crackling sound will not develop when you paired it in a Via chipset unlike...

I'm planning to get a new sound card and Santa Cruz is in my wish list. Does it support digital output because i would like to get the Creative Sound Works FPS 2000 as well.

Never had any problem with the SBLIve with WinME and XP. The main important thing is to install the latest updated driver for your sound card and the Via 4in1 drivers pack. You will like the SBLive...

You should download and install the Liveware driver for Win2k. It comes with the Speaker setup that will set your speaker to 4 speakers.

I've downloaded it from www.wowthing.com last time but they've remove the plugin. http://discussions.hardwarecentral.com/frown.gif Anyway I have the installation files, E-mail me if you want it....

I'm still using the software version and I think it enhances my sound better in WinAmp. I'm still using SBLive Value.

Reinstall the drivers for your soundcard.
If you do a search for devcon32.dll in the archive, you will find posts done by me 2 years back on this problems.

SBLive sound card series are the worst sound card in terms of compatibility with the VIA & Intel chipset. I would steer away from them and buy a Santa Cruz instead. Better make your money worth...
