Sorry, no help, but thanks for reminding me about Dungeon Keeper 2. That's a great game, I might go and play it now. http://discussions.hardwarecentral.com/smile.gif
Before you installt the card's drivers, remove one of your other cards, like a SCSI card or a modem - whatever. Then you can install the sound card and there will be no IRQ conflicts. Once there,...
If it's anything like the card I used to have, then it'll be on a small white sticker on the back of the card or on a small white sticker on the back of the SBLive box.
It depends what you use sound for. If it's games, then onboard sound is a no-go-area but if you're using it just to maybe listen to a CD while you're typing a Word document up then it's fine. ...
I can't think of one, but you could try getting into contact with the original manufacturers of the laptop, who might give you some more details on the subject.
Apart from what montezuma said, there's not a lot you can say. There's either a setting that's incorrect, the cables have come loose or the card is dead.
I'm assuming you've got the Windows drivers installed. Ther'll be a SoundBlaster Pro emulation driver somewhere in there. You'll have to add a line into your autoexec.bat with
If you've got an old amplifier with a couple of speakers that can do really deep bass then they'd be fine. I've got my dad's 20 year old amp running my rears and they sound much, much better than...

The SBLive has a Sound Blaster DOS emulation doesn't it? This would take up an IRQ. Try setting plug and play o/s to "no" in your BIOS and install the sound card (without the NIC in). Disable SB...
$29 for a MX300? That is cheap. I got mine reduced after I returned my SBLive after it developed a fault but the retail price was about £45, which is about $68
Ignore Diamond's driver's, just use the reference drivers. I know they were better for the MX300, but that was an Aureal board. The MX400 has got an ESS chip on it. Seems decent, but I would go...
I had a very similar problem with a Vortex 2 except it just disabled my SCSI card. In the end, I REM'd out the line for SoundBlster Emulation in my autoexec.bat and everything worked.
