Have you tried:
1) The same speakers on another computer.
2) Different speakers on the same computer.
If the cables to the speakers are dodgy, they'll get the stereo messed up, and make it...

Liveware 3.0 gave me a noticable performance hit on my machine. I didn't have liveware 2.0/2.1 on before hand, though. From the sounds of it though, other people haven't had the same problem....
