You must use the Creative Drivers, and be sure to follow the installation technique in the readme files.
Visit their site, enter your card number, and download the drivers.

Here is what you need to do.
Go to http://www.driverzone.com
Scroll down and on the left margin choose SEARCH
At the Search..use that model number and you will find the needed drivers.

Did you set up the sounds scheme?
Go to Control Panel - Sounds.
Select a Sound Scheme in the lower box.
Highlight the Sound Names above and select them accordingly.

Next time you get in that situation, do it the easy way.
In the RUN box, type msconfig...
Then choose the Autoexec.bat tab...Just uncheck anything or everything you don't use.
Now you're in...
I say dump the soundblaster stuff!
