Check the settings in Multimedia in Control Panel, make sure your card is the Preferred Card and also check the software that came with the card, especially the mixer part of it. If all else fails...

Sounds like it could be your CD drive, try another one if you can to see if that's the problem.

Your best bet would be to get a 3.5mm - 2 phono lead and fit a Stereo 3.5mm coupler to the end of it.
