Go to the CONTROL panel and double-click
the SYSTEM icon then click the device tab,
click the "sounds....." tree and remove devices that have yellow exclamation marks.

Click REFRESH after all...

Have you tried double-clicking the speaker
icon on your lower right taskbar and check
the option-properties?
