    http://www.soundblaster.com/drivers/

Just tell it where you live and what OS you have, and try those drivers instead.

You'll have to go into BIOS setup to disable your onboard sound.

I don't know of that problem specifically, but the drivers available as a separate download from Creative are newer than those bundled with the rest of Liveware. Maybe try those.

Try the standalone drivers (the "Drivers Only" link) - for some reason they're different to the LiveWare-bundled ones.

Yeah, the new drivers (the standalones, NOT the ones with LiveWare) should fix it right up. They did for me anyway, I had the same problem with the same mobo.

Is that Mode 4 PIO or UDMA? PIO4 is the old non-UDMA access that chews up CPU cycles, so that could be a possible cause. If it's UDMA then yeah, maybe look at the sound card and/or drivers.

PCI sound, external modem. If you must use internal gear then I'd probably still go PCI sound since any decent sound card is PCI these days, then use an ISA modem.

The Live Value just comes with a 1/8" jack that plugs into an adapter cable which plugs into Cambridge Soundworks speakers (in other words, it's basically proprietary).

Not 100% sure but I think you'll need the LiveDrive for that. That means either buying a Platinum or getting a lesser model and the LiveDrive separately.

I've got a set of FPS2000s, and that came with both the cable adaptor and the slot cover. I reckon you just got ripped off (not that it matters unless you have an old card). Either that or the US...

Those optical cables are going to stay expensive too. The cable itself is dirt cheap, but fitting the ends properly is extremely labour intensive.

ALL SB Live Value cards have a digital out. On older models it's in the form of a header on the card which you plug a slot cover into, on newer models they went with the yellow jack on the back. If...

Writing MP3s to CD (and usually ripping CD -> MP3) is done digitally, so the sound card is irrelevant. That motherboard doesn't have ISA slots, so your Adaptec card won't fit. I have the board, and...

LiveWare 3 includes drivers, but I've had bad experiences with them. Install them if you like, but don't hesitate to go back and download the separate drivers if they don't work properly.

Nice thought, but does it list Australian shops? Shipping a set of speakers from the US would easily cost at least US$50 for a 2-speaker set or US$100 for a 4-speaker set, if not more. A humble...
