I did a lot of testing before buying the BAs and I did listen to the Klipsch many times before buying. They do sound great, but to me they are just too bass-heavy and just don't sound $125 better...

I know this doesn't "fix" the problem, but if you aren't using any legacy DOS software, you don't need the SB16 Emulation drivers. You can disable it in device manager and it won't load on start up....

If headphones are a consideration, a pair of Grado SR60s would be pretty close to your price range.

Creative has a great website that shows the specs of the different models. I do know that the FPS1000s are the entry level surround speakers. They came out about 2 years ago and were one of the best...

I'd check out the Cambridge FPS1000s. Definitely the best bang for your buck. You should be able to find them pretty close to $50 on the web.

Sound cards like to take IRQ 5. See if you can change the IRQ on the ISA card via the jumpers to something other than 5.
