When playing Starcraft on my system all sound effects will stop at some point thru the game,but music will continue to play.This never happened on my sb16.My "new"

Thinking of replacing my sb16 with an ensonic 32 pci,what would be the benefit?
Is this a reasonable upgrade.?Would a pci card help or hinder performance? I have a p-233mmx with 64meg sdram.
