i'm using an old diamond mx300 n' think it's time to change to another sound card n' don't know what to pick a phillips acoustic edge or the xgamer 5.1....
it's simple....
i believe that your Santa Cruz sound card have more cpu utilization than your previous sound card...
more cpu utilization will decrease your frame rates
i have the mx300 too, using win me n' the system will crash with diamond original drivers n' with aureal lastest drivers i get sound iches n' pop ups when the card try to generate a second sound.....
of course mx400 no...
like i say before the mx400 don't have better cpu utilization than the sblive n' any vortex2 card..
n' u gonna playing games.. so sblive! is your only choice n' i heard people...
no no no....
the mx300 was the last diamond sound card using an aureal based chip n' the mx400 use sensura chip.. http://209.10.46.172/default.asp?menu=monster_sound_mx400&sub_menu=
the mx400...
thank's for your opinion, i will switch to sblive 5.1, most probably the xgamer... n' yes need to change my speakers too that i'm still using the one's built in my hp pavilion
when installing a new videocard, soundcard, motherboard or other hardware related with drivers...
is always recommended to do a clean installl of windows
