I have run a 1ghz athlon with several graphics cards and the Aureal Vortex2 SuperQuad and never found it to slow my system. Well not to a degree where I have been able to notice it anyway...

I think w2k is fairly good about reinstalling over the top of its self but in previous operating systems this would wipe all your software registry entries and you would have to reinstall the drivers...

I remember the promises of plug and play.
Forget them. I pretty much reinstall windoze if I am putting any hardware in my machine, there are too many residual elements to a lot of device drivers...
