As for partitioning, since I prefer to set aside room for over-provisioning, I manually set partition sizes for Linux.

I would have thought the REDs would be safer to use than the GREENs, this is really wacky.
I hope the HGST drives are still using their old designs rather than just rebadged WD.

If you're certain that the source of the problem is the Agility 3, if applicable, you can try updating the firmware to the last current firmware 2.25 dated Oct 5, 2012.

If one has a ADATA usb flash drive, I guess one could use their online repair tool. It supposedly re-writes the firmware on the drive.
