I want to know some things about AGP.

3. What types of AGP are there (agpx1..)
1.) Accelerated Graphics Port. This port is designed with speed in mind. Much faster than a PCI or ISA, and is linked to your main memory for better performance in time of need.
2.) No. AGP can be on PII & certain Socket 7 boards.
3.) Ther are two types, x1 & x2.
Thanx for explanation.
But what are socket 7 boards??
Socket 7 boards are those designed to take non-PII CPU. i.e. AMD K6, AMD K6-2, Cyrix, IDT, legacy Pentium, etc.
A good example is the ASUS P5A board. There are quite a few others out there. Word of warning however, if you purchase a PC Chips board you will get a number of AGP problems.
I cannot decide between Canopus Spectra 2500 and Velocity 4400 video card. I am looking for great 2D and 3d(for games) performace.
Can video card that support AGPx2 work on AGPx1 system?
To my knowledge, no. If the board supoprts x2, I beleive it will support both x1 & x2 cards, but not the other way around. Double sheck this howerver, I may be mistaken.
