You have to carefully remove the Teflon pads on the bottom, and then remove the screws underneath them. Just remove the pads gently, because you need to reuse them.
I don't know about taking them apart but can someone tell what that stupid "brake light" at the back is for? It's gotta be pose value as it seems to have nothing to do with the operation.

You can open it up, and remove the LED if you don't like the light.
What ever you do don't look directly into that laser if your mouse is still connected!!! I mean the laser under the mouse. Can really hurt your eyesite.
