Can a voodoo3 speed up a slow computer?

I think I read somewhere that buying a fast video card could speed up an old computer.

Is there much truth to that?

I don't think so.

Meaning if you get a Geforce or a card with a GPU to take some processing load off the CPU ...then yes...to an extent

other than that.... all video cards are heavily CPU dependant.... seems that best performance is achieved with a 600Mhz or higher CPU regardless of the card
