I have a motherboard which supports SATA 1.5 Gb/s. My question may be stupid but can I use a newer Drive which says 3.0 Gb/s? Are the connectors still the same?

If you have problems, check the drive label -- most drives have a jumper setting that lets you force the drive back to 1.5 Gbps mode. It's normally not needed, even on older motherboards, but if your motherboard doesn't play nice then it should do the trick.
