Hi Well just bought this external HD with a samsung 300 g drive ( sata II ) vista found it and installed the drivers no problem but it does not show up in usable storage.
any Ideas?

Try going to Disk Management and see if it is there and just not partitioned.
My computer/administrative tools/computer management/disk management.
If you see it there, right click on it and partition, etc.
