They are huge for sure.
I like my 17's though as they give a better overall ride than the 20's do. ;)
yeah i can imagine the 20's being like riding on blades!
The ride is a lot bumpier for sure.
I mean my Ram rides stiff enough with the 17's on it as it is. ;)
ohh my god!, i just got a run today in my mates uncles Ford Focus ST170, 170BHP standard but this ones been chipped, K&N induction kit and a 3" exhaust, he said its running at 198BHP. it accelerated really really fast and the K&N sounded amazing! the best part is the handling, on the straight he got it to about 135mph and then only slowed down to 120mph for a small bend and it just held the road, you couldnt feel the back end losing grip like mine does at 70mph :D
best bit though is hearing the K&N at 7,500RPM :D:D and now because of that im ordering one for my car
do you have to have a turbo in your car to get it chipped? im confused on this subject. i have been thinking about a supercharger.
no you dont need a turbo. the ST170 isn't a turbo.
from the suposerchips.co.uk website...
i know american roads are different and you guys dont really get a thing called the corner over there ;) but a supercharger is going to make your car a lot faster and with you being a new driver is that a sensible idea? (ohh no i sound like a mum or dad now!)Quote:
Non Turbo (normally aspirated engine) cars
Superchip's re-mapping of the on board computer gives up to 10% more power. Other annoying traits such as hesitation and poor throttle response, that can occur on computer-controlled cars, are eliminated making the car more lively and responsive. This makes in-town driving a pleasure, requiring less gear changing with a smooth and progressive engine response.
Turbo cars
There are impressive gains of up to 25% more power and torque. Driving pleasure is increased through less gear changing and you will feel that your car is more lively and responsive. Superchips do this by increasing the manufacturer's boost limit. And with the reprogrammed computer matching the car's ignition timing and fuelling, long term reliability of the engine is retained.
Turbocharged Diesel cars
Superchip's reprogramming of the computer matches the fuelling to the increased manufacturer's boost pressure, giving impressive gains of up to 30% more torque and more power. This adds to driving pleasure, requiring less gear changing, making the car more lively and responsive. There is also the potential for improved fuel economy.
was in my mates VW polo tonight and he managed to lose the back end at 40mph round a wet corner, was fun but scarey!
I drove a coworkers SRT4 today (Turbocharged 230 HP with 14 LBs of boost) because he told me that a friend said it ws slower than it was before.
Well I have driven a lot of SRT4's and there wasn't a problem at all.
Shifting at 6000 rpm I went from 0 to 100 so fast he couldn't believe it. :D
i just want as much acceleration and speed as possible for the interstate and longer straightaways so i can keep up.
well i remember we were all speaking about car insurance here and i beleive you dont have to pay any more for modding your car over there do you? so id go for it as long as you dont use the power in the bends!
They use a symbol rating system here in the US, what ever the car symbol is sets the price of the insurance then they add on other charges like for tickets and other stuff to gouge.
