That is funny. :D
I had a 84 Z28 so I can relate to that song. ;)
I had a 86 Z28 with a 5 speed borg warner t-tops. For those that don't know the Z28 has a V8 in it.Quote:

Hey Andy,
Glad you're alright mate - sounds like it could have a been a lot worse!
I mounted a kerb and took out a street sign before I'd even passed my test. Pretty embarassing because I don't think there was another car within a mile or so, my mum was in the passenger seat and I was going at about 5mph. :D
Yeah they where Ok for awhile but fell apart after about 60,000 miles.Quote:

3 Transmissions (Automatic), 5 water pumps, 3 power steering pumps, 2 radators.......and alot of other stuff.
Then it died @ 98,000 miles.
Never again......
My 88 Ford Tauras had over 170,000 miles on it when I got rid of it and still ran like new.
I had a Olds with 175,000 miles on it before the motor gave out.
My Sentra has over 140k on it now and still going strong, should last another 140k. :)
my grandpas old Toyota Starlet 1.3 had 230,000 miles on it, was 3 years old (Hes a driving instructor like my mum) and my mums Starlet 1.3 had somthing like 180,000 miles on it after 3 years when they get replaced. both starlets still drive about with there new owners all the time, i see them alot.
i cant beleive mine has done 112,000 miles though, its french after all. still going strong apart from a missfire problem that ive had it in the garage 3 times about and renault dont know whats wrong with it. another driving instructor my mum knows has a brand new clio and the engine management light is on and renault dont know whats wrong it it, they cant fix it. but hes not allowed to use the car for driving tests because of it
jeez, Andy glad you're ok, that looked pretty nasty.
It always seems like the worst thing in the world straight after something like that. I crashed my Dad's car (rather his than mine!!) a few weeks ago when I was taking my parents out to lunch. He wasn't best pleased, in fact it was the first time I've ever heard him say the F-word! :)
But it all got sorted out and we can laugh about it now. The only lasting damage was to my bruised pride - it was my first accident that was my fault. It was probably a blessing in disguise though, as it made me slow down a bit.
in a couple of months you'll have a new car and talk about how you managed to spin your car and take out a fence. infact you'll probably laugh about it!
I got my Z28 when it had about 60,000 miles on it. I guarentee the hardest years it saw were with me driving. I loved that limited slip. At about 15 mph if you hit a 120 deg. turn and kicked it into first from high RPM's you would get double burnouts:D Otherwise from a stand still that limited slip would go to 1 wheel. Before I was done with the car at 95,000 miles the only thing I had to do was change the clutch twice. Believe me it was not the cars fault:DQuote:

I had IROC rims on my Z28 anyway. I could corner like I was on rails. I think 86 was the first year they had roller rockers.
Yeah they were pretty nice, but my 1983 928 was the car. :DQuote:

Fast as Lightning, top speed over 180mph...I had that for 2 years until my long ago ex made me sell it. :( Man I miss that car so bad, it was a blast to drive. :)
Make that a couple of days :DQuote:

Seen some absolutely gorgeous 214's, and have got my eye on one very closely.
I had a guy come round today from a rover forum to take a look at the car, and he wants the leather seats, boot spoiler and a couple of other bits. He's bringing a mate with him next weekend when he comes to pick up the seats who wants the backbox and some other things. Then, when the car is ready to go, I've arranged for someone to come down with a trailer and take the car away. I'll probably get about £40-£50 for the shell and engine :)
Thank you very much for all the replies. It's gutting to see my car in this state, but at the end of it I'll be getting a much better car and also have picked up quite a lot of experience. Just a shame the car was written off so soon, as I had planned to keep it for a good few years.
MuFu, I remember you telling me about your accident while you were learning to drive. I bet you've never lived that down have you? :D
I got a lift home from work last night and the guy took the route where I crashed. It was quite nerve-racking seeing it again, and you can even see tyre marks where I lost it :(
The thing that really annoys me is that if the clown in the other car hadn't put his foot down, I would have been able to get past him quickly and safely. That's taught me a very very valuable lesson... not to try and speed up to get past people when they won't let you past. One simple mistake can cause so much hassle :(
Anyway, expect to see some pics of my new car soon. Thanks again for all the replies :)
Glad you're ok! I've been in about 11 accidents, 4 where i was the driver :D recently this bird came out a side road into a dual carriage way and for some odd reason decided to go into my lane (right hand) doing what we estimate to be about 15mph! made the guy in front of me lash her back badly and i went from 4th to 2nd to slow me fast and also slammed the brakes, luckily i was fast enough to only smash my front left lights to bits and bend the panel up a fair bit, cost 200 to repair though
OH MY GOD!
Justintime!?!?! Glad to see you back buddy! It's been a while! You still got the BM?
I picked up this little number tonight...

Paid £530 for it, which is an absolutely bargain considering the condition it's in.
Pick it up on Wednesday, can't wait :D
lovely :D
get your K&N filter on it, your ICE install in and get it lowered about 35mm and it will look and sound good!
LOL i so rolled that Beamer on a guard rail years ago, its one of the 4 mishaps when i was driving ;) Twas a different person driving then though, lot angrier i'd say :p
