my intellimouse explorer recently has started powering itself off when I'm using it.
if I play with the cord a bit it'll power back on. I'm suspecting that it's loose inside and I wanna open it but I see no screws, anyone know how I can open it?

I don't wanna have to go out and buy a new mouse

i don't own one but if there are no screws..none hidden under stickers or anything...its probably 2 mold halves the click together with plastic tabs of sorts.. you could very carefully try to pry them apart even if you do break it you could always superglue it back together...?

There are screws under the rubber feet which in turn are stuck on with a thin double sided sticky tape. you can remove them easily with a knife. If you first warm them with a hair dryer and get the knife in a corner then carefully peal back, stick the feet on some grease proof paper so they don't pick up dirt and they will simply stick back one when you are done. Once the four screws are out it's a bit of a fiddle to get the lid past the side buttons but don't force it, it will come if you fiddle.
If you still have the receipt and it's less than a year old try getting a new one through Microsoft, my fried did.
The wires tend to fray and break internally, (usually just where it enters the mouse). Think I might have a spare good mouse lead for an Intellimouse Explorer here somewhere, and I'd swap it out to anyone that wanted it. I want the old one as I can repair it.
