What is the best cooler for a PIII 450 on a Abit BE6 and good online place to get it.
An alpha p3125 and you can check Pricewatch to find the cheapest retailer.
The best cooler...How about an Alpha P3125 SECC2 cooler...It's kinda expensive at $45 right now but its guaranteed to help you overclock that P3 450 to 600+ Mhz. You may also have to check if this large cooler will fit your mobo and case. You may lose the use of 1 DIMM socket but its worth it...
You may want to also check out the Global-Win VOS32. Its performance is a little less than the Alpha but at about $15 less, it may be a more practical choice...You can check out both coolers at www.coldcpu.com
Uhhhh Kroblanx, you got it backwards, the VOS32 performs a little bit better than the Alpha P3125 and it is quite a bit cheaper. 29 bucks the BEST Athlon, PII and PIII (SECC2) cooler is not bad at all. http://discussions.hardwarecentral.com/wink.gif

Ramr is right...
the VOS32 does outperform P3125 by 1-2 degree C. Most importantly CHEAPER!!

OK, I stand corrected...
If you want the excellent performing cooler that looks great as well get one of these.

My brother had one on his p3 katmai, and loved it very much.
Don't quote me on this because I haven't got a be6 but I don't think the arctic cooler will block any dimms either. The alpha is very fat and might block a dimm or two

daveg, bad news I'm afraid.. the HP Orbs that make up the heatsink for the Artic Cooler is no longer in production and supplies of it have trickled down to zero, therefore, they have suspended sales of that great cooler.

It all depends upon where you look for your review of the coolers. Both of them are very good. I have had great luck with my alpha and would recommend one to anybody with a little extra cash.
Whooops.. I just checked and they managed to rustle up somemore of 'em HP orbs and so the Artic Circles are back in stock (more expensive this time though).. I'm waiting for the Agilient Artic Cooler myself. http://discussions.hardwarecentral.com/biggrin.gif

We are waiting for the new Agilent cooler also.
One consideration should be that the Arctic Circle is for Slot mount processors while the Agilent cooler will be for Socket mount processors.
It looks like the price will be about the same.

I never hear to much about these here?
Wonder WHY?
You're right, till you brought up that link I've never seen that particular S7/PPGA-370 HSF before. I think it's marketed towards as a retail relacement HSF, it doesn't seem have the mass/features to be a high performance HSF.

You can also get the orb here for less but you may have to do som mods yourself...
