ViewSonic Adds Third Model to Android Tablet Lineup
January 7, 2011
By James Alan Miller
As the name indicates, the ViewPad 4, which runs on the Froyo flavor of the Android OS, has the smallest WVGA capacitive touchscreen display yet of ViewSonics's tablets. So whereas the other models sport 7 and 10 inch screens, respectively, the ViewPad 4's comes in at a here 4 inches.
That's tiny for a tablet but rather large for, say, a smartphone, which - apparently - the new tablet can double as with what ViewSonic calls "full cell phone functionality. Additional specs include a 1GHz Qualcomm MSM 8255 processor, 5-megapixel camera with auto-focus, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and HDMI 720p video recording and output.
No word on how much the ViewPad 4 will cost, although that will depend on the carriers offering it. Expect it to fall somewhere between the $450 ViewPad 7, already available, and the $629 ViewPad 10, which is due to ship in March, however. See here for more information.
