Toshiba Unveils Copper-Colored, Core 2 Duo-Powered Gaming Notebook

A Few Pounds Lighter Than Some Desktop Replacements

November 15, 2006

Toshiba Digital Products Division has expanded its high-performance gaming notebook series with the Satellite P100-ST9742, a $2,899 desktop-replacement portable with a TrueBrite 17-inch diagonal widescreen (1,680 by 1,050) display. Nvidia's GeForce Go 7900 GTX with 512MB of GDDR-3 memory and both VGA and DVI output handles the graphics, while Intel's Core 2 Duo T7200 (two 2.0GHz cores with 4MB of Level 2 cache) and 2GB of DDR-2 provide the processing power.

Under its Sunlight Copper lid, the P100 comes with a 100GB, 7,200-rpm Serial ATA hard disk and 11-format DVD±RW optical drive. The 7.1-pound Satellite's dual-mode touchpad offers one-tap shortcuts to launch e-mail, a Web browser, and other selected applications. Intel's Pro/Wireless 3945ABG WiFi adapter, Bluetooth 2.0, and built-in Harman/Kardon stereo speakers round out the package.
