I have a Toshiba 320 GB Hard Drive. I have it on a USB device to test it right now. Chkdsk says no bad sectors but SeaTools from Seagate says Failed with the short test and the long test. So is this drive good or bad?

I have Data Lifeguard and did a low level write zeros to the drive and then ran Seatools and now it shows Not Failed on the tests. So now is the drive good or bad?

Is Seatools or any other hard drive utility a better test than chkdsk to know the integrity of a drive?

WD® AND SANDISK TEAM UP TO CREATE INNOVATIVE SOLID STATE HYBRID DRIVES

SanDisk Brings Fast Flash Memory Technology to the World’s Thinnest 2.5-inch Solid State Hybrid Drives from WD

IRVINE and MILPITAS, Calif., May 7, 2013 – WD®, a Western Digital (NASDAQ: WDC) company, and SanDisk Corporation (NASDAQ: SNDK), a global leader in flash memory storage solutions, today announced that the two companies are collaborating to introduce hybrid storage devices that feature best-in-class flash memory technology from SanDisk and best-in-class hard drive technology from WD.

SanDisk is supplying a SanDisk iSSD™ storage device for the WD Black™ solid state hybrid drive (SSHD), the world’s thinnest 2.5-inch SSHD solution, which utilizes both WD proprietary hybrid technology and industry standard SATA IO technology. The SanDisk iSSD brings an elegant balance of performance, low power consumption, cost, reliability, and a compact form factor to this SSHD, which will offer ample storage to meet consumers’ growing appetite for digital content as well as flash-enabled speed, data throughput and responsiveness – all within ultra-slim form factors.

“I am delighted for SanDisk to team up with WD on these exciting new hybrid products,” said Kevin Conley, senior vice president and general manager of client storage solutions at SanDisk. “By combining SanDisk’s unparalleled flash memory expertise and technology with the hard drive know-how of WD, WD Black SSHDs offer outstanding hard drive-like capacity, and the slim form factor and the level of performance that you will only get with flash memory solutions.”

“Working with SanDisk, WD realized our vision for products that combine the best of both technologies,” said Matt Rutledge, vice president of client computing at WD. “WD’s SSHDs are a significant achievement in the continuing SSHD/flash storage revolution.”
About WD Black Solid State Hybrid Drives

WD Black SSHDs use WD hybrid technology that blends responsive, intelligent flash memory technology from SanDisk with high capacity hard drives from WD. This powerful combination greatly improves the PC user experience, enabling both high capacity and a higher level of performance than traditional hard disk drives, including increased speed, instant-on and faster application launching.

With device volume being a key concern for PC manufacturers who want to design slimmer devices, the WD Black SSHDs are designed to accommodate integration into the market’s thinnest notebooks. The WD Black 5mm SSHD offers 500GB1 of capacity, while utilizing almost 50 percent less volume than current standard notebook hard drives (which are approximately 9.5mm). The low-profile of the solid state hybrid drive is complemented by the extremely small form factor of the SanDisk iSSD, which is built on 19 nanometer (nm) process technology, the world's smallest and most advanced semiconductor manufacturing process. The WD Black 5mm SSHDs are shipping to OEMs. WD is also currently shipping to OEMs ultra-slim, 7mm and 9.5mm SSHDs for portable devices.

Hi All,
I asked a question about a month ago for my son who is in Afghanistan with a broken laptop about how to transfer files from from external HD to the new HD they were suppose to send to my son. Well the HD never got to him and now I have just requested that they send him a new laptop, its been over 6 weeks now and we are not moving forward at all. So they tell me yes they can send him a new one, but it will take time. 10 days later I send email to my contact at HP and he sends me info today for new laptop. Here is the NEW problem!! My sons computer is a HP Envy (m6?). The graphics on this laptop played my sons games well. Radeon 7660g graphic card. HP tried the first time to replace with Intel 4000 graphics, but I have read and found that to not be a good choice. So I call the guy from HP and tell him that I am getting very fustrated now, that it has been over 6 weeks and nothing is happening, and that 6 weeks to us here in the US with no computer is hard, but to my son, this is a life line and I am getting really pissed off now. So he sends me another email now and this computer is an HP Envy, dv6z-7200 notebook with a amd 7670M graphics. Now from what I am reading this is a crossfire card? I am having trouble finding this out. I now believe that he is trying to make up for it, but i dont really care for the crossfire. We have a desk top at home with the crossfire and ended up pulling out a card just to get it to run! Can you please help me out here and tell me if you believe this is a good replacement for the 7660G. I am just getting brain dead trying to figure it all out.

Thanks a ton!

Marketplace Fairness Act, which would allow states to levy taxes on Internet purchases, now moves on to the House of Representatives for consideration.

The U.S. Senate on Monday approved a controversial bill by more than a 2-to-1 margin that would allow states to levy taxes on Internet purchases.

The Marketplace Fairness Act, which would allow states to require online vendors to collect sales and use tax on certain out-of-state purchases, was approved in a bipartisan vote of 69 to 27. The bill, which already has the support of President Obama, will now move on to the House of Representatives.

If approved, the bill would overturn a 1992 Supreme Court ruling that found out-of-state retailers generally don't have to collect taxes unless they have a sufficient business presence. The bill, officially known as S.743, does include an exception for businesses that make under $1 million a year in revenue.
